FACULTY OF MEDICINE AND HEALTH SCIENCES DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND PREVENTATIVE MEDICINE FIXED TERM CONTRACT VACANCY NO.: IRC 3564 The University of Botswana (UB), a premier state-owned tertiary institution dedicated to shaping the future through excellence, research, innovation and meaningful societal impact, invites applications from accomplished and suitably qualified professionals for the position of Lecturer in Public Health Medicine (Health Systems) in the Department of Public Health and Preventative Medicine . The position holder is responsible for undertaking independent teaching and research in the Public Health Medicine (Health Systems and Health Policy) discipline or related areas and make independent contributions to professional Health Systems practice and/or expertise. The incumbent will also coordinate or lead the related activities as appropriate to the discipline and undertake administrative activities of the Institution.

Key Responsibilities
- contribute to the development of and implement departmental, sectional, and unit-level strategies, policies, plans, and procedures
- teach both undergraduate and graduate Public Health Medicine courses
- Conduct research and participate in research teams and collaborative projects
- Supervise student research projects, and dissertation
- Design and administer assessments that measure student learning outcomes
- Grade assignments and exams, providing detailed and constructive feedback
- provide service for the university, profession and community
- Provide public health services
- Provide academic advising, mentorship, and career guidance to students
- Assist with organizing faculty/ university symposium and conferences of national importance
- Present scholarly articles at national and international seminars and conferences
- Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Head of School or Departmental Chairperson
Requirements
- A Master of Medicine (MMed) or equivalent with a specialist qualification in Public Health Medicine/ or Equivalent , a first degree in (MBBS, MBChB, MD degree) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution and must be registered with or registrable (and in good professional standing) by the Botswana Health Professions Council as Public Health Physician/Specialist OR PhD in Health systems or Health Policy development with three (3) years of relevant experience
- Demonstrable interest and competencies in Health Systems Strengthening and Health Policy
