 In its pursuit to become a Competitive Commercial Power Utility within the Region, Botswana Power Corporation invites applications from suitably qualified, highly energetic, dynamic, result oriented, innovative, and customer focused individuals, who believe they can be part of a great team that delivers power to Botswana to apply for the below listed position not later than  05 March 2023.

Main purpose of the position

To plan, coordinate, optimise and manage the provision of technical support in projects, operations, and maintenance of the system to ensure network availability, quality of supply, operational safety, and efficient customer service delivery in responsibility.

Job Responsibilities

  • Management of customers and key stakeholders in designated areas to provide customers with technical support.
  • Authorise system loading configuration in accordance with standards, policy, and specifications to ensure quality of supply.
  • Monitor and analyse network loading and performance, make changes and or additions to achieve network optimisation within area of responsibility
  • Adjudicate cases of public liability claims arising out of the operations of the systems and making recommendations.
  • Investigate major network faults and breakdowns and organise emergency repairs to ensure timely restoration of supply
  • Coordinate and monitor customer supply and service delivery in responsibility to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Manage customer connection process to ensure timely connection of customer projects.
  • Implement customer service interventions and customer value proposition to ensure alignment of these interventions to business strategy and needs.
  • Advise on outage and load management, network supply problems, metering, and energy efficiency as well as coordinating maintenance.
  • Organise, coordinate, and prioritise maintenance execution by allocating resources to the correct teams and monitoring of performance of these teams within area of responsibility.
  • Coordinate public campaign awareness activities in responsibility area
  • Expenditure of approved budget to achieve set objectives/plans hence improving the system reliability and security
  • Coordinate distribution small works activities such as outage management, commissioning, etc to ensure quality and timely completion of customer connections
  • Prepare area budget (CAPEX, OPEX and Manpower) to align to business strategy
  • Manages the motivation and discipline of staff in area of responsibility in line with laid down procedures to realize the Corporation’s objectives.
  • Manages the performance of the team by working within a performance management system.

Qualifications

  • Recognised Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Must be a member of a recognised professional engineering institution
  • Any qualification in Customer Service/Business Management/Project Management/Risk Management would be an added advantage
  • Valid Class B driver’s license
  • Must be Senior Authorised

Experience

  • Seven (7) years post qualification experience in the power environment is required.
  • At least, two (2) years of which will have been in system operations/ maintenance in a power utility industry and one (1) must have been in a customer service environment.
